Tom Herman

Before XRAmericas Lucas served as Media Executive for over 10 years. He started his career in media working for Colombia’s biggest broadcaster, RCN Television.  At RCN, he led the biggest expansion in the history of the network by more than quadrupling its production infrastructure. He was also part of the management committee, in charge of analyzing content development and green-lighting production. He was promoted to vice president of international channels, where he was responsible for finance, distribution, programming, sales, and operations over two worldwide distributed cable networks. As head of international channels, Mr. Kappaz was the Lead Negotiator between RCN and Disney, Comcast, Viacom, Univision, and Fox, which ultimately resulted in the formation of a multimillion-dollar Hispanic network in the United States: MundoFOX, which he joined as SVP of Digital Strategy and Content Distribution. At MundoFox Digital, Mr. Kappaz implemented cutting-edge strategies to create native digital content as well as original experiences for the audience in which mobile screens became a “multi-camera” option to provide the viewer with different angles on certain scenes.

After MundoFOX Mr. Kappaz founded Mesklum LLC to provide consulting services on digital and traditional media. His clients include MCN’s Networks and non-media companies in need to establish their digital footprint. Mr. Kappaz holds a Master of Business Administration from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. He has volunteered for over 20 years teaching people with disabilities to practice sports. He and his wife Rosa live in Santa Monica, California, with their two children.

In 2018 was selected by the IADB as one of the Latin-American leaders in Education. In 2017, the World Summit in Innovation and Entrepreneurship included her as one of the 100 Top World disruptors in New York City. In October 2019, Ford Motor Company awarded her as Mujer Legendaria. And, in 2020, the OBO movement selected her as one of the OBO 100 Innovators. The book “Hispanic Stars Rising: The New Face of Power,” launched in October 2020, included her story.

Tom Herman has over 15 years of start-up experience leading technical strategy, software architecture, fundraising, and mergers and acquisitions of technical assets. Tom currently serves as the VP of Business Development at AirCarbon Pte Ltd.

Previously he was the CEO of DashBid Media and before that the VP for Product Marketing at ooVoo Inc, a web2.0 online video company with leading products in video chat, video conferencing, and video social networking. At ooVoo he was responsible for product design and development strategy.

Previously, Mr. Herman served as the COO and Vice President for Product Strategy at Jump TV, the world's online television broadcaster and a KIT Capital portfolio company. In his role at JumpTV, he was responsible for building out Jump TV's New York City offices, setting up off-shore engineering resources, CRM systems, and launching versions 2.0 and 3.0 of JumpTV's video broadcasting products. He was also responsible for all of JumpTV's online marketing initiatives including SEO, SEM, affiliate marketing, and social networking strategies.

Prior to co-founding Recognition Group, Tom was the co-founder, and Chief Technology Officer of govWorks, Inc., a NY-based company that pioneered the global e-government marketplace. It was documented in the film "StartUp.com".

Mr. Herman graduated from Bates College with a degree in Psychology and Computer Science
